It is important to know what the bag will be used for and what requirements it needs to meet. 

The choice of material depends heavily on:

• the intended use (e.g., event, retail sales, trade fair)
• the desired durability
• budget and environmental requirements
• the printing process/logo requirements

Here is a little information about materials:

• Cotton/canvas:
• Robust, high quality, good feel, reusable. Low stretch possible.
• Jute: 
• 100% natural fiber, recyclable, good look. Somewhat more delicate, visible texture.
• Non-woven/fleece:
• Inexpensive, versatile, lightweight. 
• Paper (kraft paper/recycled paper):
• Can be climate-friendly, good print quality. Limited reuse, be mindful of moisture.

We are happy to advise you free of charge and recommend the right material for your application—also taking into account printing costs and minimum quantities.

The minimum quantity depends on several factors:

• Material and design (paper, fabric, non-woven, etc.)
• Printing technique (flat printing, screen printing, digital printing)
• Size, format, and special shapes
• There are designs for which we can offer you bags starting at 2 or 3 pieces. However, depending on your choice, the minimum quantity can be 100, 300, 500, 1,000, 3,000, 5,000, 10,000, or even 50,000 pieces. The easiest way is to specify your desired quantity in your inquiry. We can then tell you whether the quantity is possible or, if necessary, which bag and production type is most suitable for your requirements.

Let us know your desired quantity and we will immediately check whether it is feasible and make you a concrete offer.

We offer both standard production and rush production/express printing.

• Stock items with printing: within 5–7 business days
• Paper bags with twisted paper cord: approx. 10–12 working days
• Express solutions: on request – we can often help at short notice, even with tight deadlines

Just ask for the “express” option in your inquiry – we will check whether your quantity and specifications fit within the time frame.

Yes - porto has a variety of carrier bags in stock that can be printed in one colour within 5-7 working days. We can also make and deliver paper carrier bags with twisted paper cords completely within 10-12 working days.

Yes – we keep a large stock of bags/pouches that we have already produced for our customers. If an exact sample with your desired layout is not available, we will send you a similar model for your reference. Since there are several million possible configurations for carrier bags and pouches, it may happen that we do not have an exact match for a particular offer in stock. In these cases, we will send you a similar design sample.

For completely new custom-made products, we also manufacture prototypes on request – the costs for this are clearly stated in the quote and communicated transparently.

Yes – carrier bags made of paper, plastic, or composite materials are considered service packaging in Germany if they are used to deliver goods to end consumers.

This means:

• A license is required through a dual system (e.g., “Green Dot”).
• The party placing the packaging on the market (often the distributor) is legally responsible.
• Upon request, we can handle this licensing obligation for you (for a separate fee).

Almost all the papers used at porto are FSC® certified. However, for some products there are no corresponding FSC papers to meet the requirements of these products. WS-Team GmbH has been certified under certificate number C130790 since 23.01.2020.

You have the following options:

• via our FTP server / upload portal

We also provide you with specific data sheets / template samples for your chosen bag type so that you can set up the layout correctly. Before production starts, we professionally check your data (data check) and send you PDF proofs for approval.

We will be happy to send you data sheets for the corresponding articles. You can then easily build your motif on these. Of course, your data will be professionally checked before printing begins and you will receive corresponding proofs as a PDF by e-mail.

porto is not an advertising agency, so we cannot offer you this service. We can, of course, do typesetting work or place your motif on a bag according to your specifications.

Cotton: Is the most widespread and most important textile fibre in the world. The plant, from whose seed hairs the fibre is obtained, is mainly found in subtropical regions. With a length between 20 and 42 mm, cotton absorbs moisture well and quickly and has a very high tensile strength. Cotton creases easily and shrinks a little after washing, which can be disadvantageous depending on the intended use. It can be dyed well. Canvas: The derivation from the Latin (cannabis) reveals that this was originally a hemp fabric. However, nowadays it is more commonly known as a wide-meshed, lattice-like cotton fabric. Canvas is a very robust material that can be washed and, in contrast to conventional cotton, warps less and does not crease. Jute: Is obtained from the plant of the same name. One of the great advantages is that jute, as a natural fibre, is 100% biodegradable and therefore easily recyclable. Jute fibres can be dyed without any problems; the material provides a particularly luminous effect here. Jute is one of the strongest natural fibres and is therefore versatile.

Unfortunately, no clear statement can be made here. Factors such as raw material, energy consumption, water consumption, transport routes, manufacturing process, reusability, recyclability, etc. lead to very different results. A plastic bag made of LDPE with welded loop handles is comparatively very environmentally friendly when the above factors are considered. However, if you look at the raw material, namely oil, the plastic bag loses much of its environmental friendliness, as crude oil is a non-renewable raw material and is increasingly polluting the oceans. Paper carrier bags made of FSC-certified paper are different. Here, energy and water consumption is very high and transport distances can be very long. Paper bags are also often only used once. So they are not necessarily environmentally friendly, but they are made of renewable raw materials and can be completely recycled, even if they are disposed of in the open air, the environment is not decisively polluted. A list of the various factors can be made for each material and design.

FSC or Forest Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organisation that promotes responsible forest management. The goal of the FSC is to ensure that forests are managed in such a way that not only today's needs can be met, but also the needs of future generations. All our carrier bags are manufactured in factories that work according to legal requirements. The conventions of the ILO (International Labour Organisation) are also observed. The ILO is an organisation of the united nations and covers a wide range of topics from the world of work, such as equal treatment, occupational health and safety or wages. The ILO's recommendations are incorporated into national legislation through parliaments. If you would like a custom-made bag, for which a prototype of the bag is created, costs will be incurred as soon as the first sample bag is produced. However, you will always be informed in advance and can see from the order and order confirmation when and to what extent costs will be incurred.
